## About This guide explains how to add [Github](https://github.com/) authentication to your Forum account. Linking your GitHub account allows ACCESS-NRI to associate your Forum account with your GitHub identity. This makes it easier for ACCESS-NRI to grant access and permissions on GitHub based on your linked GitHub account. You will also be able to sign in to the Forum using your GitHub credentials. ## How do I add Github authentication if I already have an account If you already have a Forum account, you can add GitHub authentication without changing your current sign-in method. Once linked, you’ll be able to sign in using either GitHub or your existing authentication method. Go to [your account preference page](https://forum.access-hive.org.au/my/preferences/account) which should look like similar to this: ![account_preferences_before](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex020/uploads/access1/original/2X/1/1ea3c00d1aa1675f2787b4caddaa9560bb8d11bc.png) > ⚠ If you cannot see **Associated Accounts** you may have enabled two-factor authentication (2FA). You can [turn this off in your preferences](https://forum.access-hive.org.au/my/preferences/second-factor) (password will be required). In this example, Homer has already authenticated with AAF, but not yet linked a GitHub account. GitHub will ask for permissions to read email addresses associated with your GitHub account. If you are not already signed in to GitHub, you will first be asked to log in. After authorising the application, you’ll be returned to the Forum.
