We will hear from Pat Wongpan from the University of Tasmania on “Primary production by algae in Antarctic sea ice: satellite-based light penetration index & ACCESS-OM2-01-BGC (progress & future plans)”. Hi everyone,
Happy new year! I hope you have all had a great break over the Christmas period and are ready to dive into 2023.
This is a reminder that the regular COSIMA meetings are _not on in January_ but will be starting up again on _February 2nd_. We already have a few talks lined up, but also plenty of room in the schedule. So, if you’re interested in giving a talk, or have some ideas for meeting discussion topics, please add them to the [schedule](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1C9_dUXyyhk-azwefG_hUsKsV49jYmxZommfr4sFFMnA/edit?usp=sharing).
Secondly, the COSIMA-cookbook hackathon v2.0 is coming up on _Tuesday the 24th of January (9:30-4:30)_. There will be in-person group gatherings at UNSW, ANU and U Tas with lunch provided, as well as plenty of people joining online. The COSIMA meeting is ON tomorrow.
On the agenda:
1. We’ll hear from Zhaohui Wang from U Tas on “Intercomparison of Ice surface Temperature from Recent Global Atmospheric Reanalyses over Antarctic Sea Ice”, including a JRA-55, ERA-5 comparison.
2. We’ll follow this with a discussion of ERA-5 forcing for ACCESS-OM2.
3. If there’s time, we’ll discuss which ACCESS-OM2 Control runs the ACCESS-NRI should target for long-term support (see [ACCESS-OM2 Control Experiments - #22 by aekiss](https://forum.access-hive.org.au/t/access-om2-control-runs/258/22)).
