## First ACCESS-ESM1.6 CMIP7 evaluations are appearing in the REF

The ACCESS Consortium has been publishing ACCESS-ESM1.6 CMIP7 data to ESGF over the past two weeks. As those datasets become available, the [CMIP Rapid Evaluation Framework (REF)](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/) is starting to run automated evaluations and display the results.

The easiest place to see what has been evaluated so far is the REF [Executions dashboard](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions?mip_era=CMIP7). Here is a snapshot of successful ACCESS-ESM1.6 CMIP7 executions visible on **22 October 2026** , with one example from each realm:

| Realm | Example to explore | What is available |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Atmosphere** | [Annual cycle of meridional wind at 850 and 200 hPa](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions/27749/files) | Maps of ACCESS-ESM1.6, ERA5 and their differences for a `historical` run. |
| **Land** | [Evaporation minus precipitation](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions/29693/files) | Global land and tropical results, including bias maps and annual cycles, using GLEAM/GPCP reference data for an `esm-hist` run. |
| **Ocean** | [Surface sea water salinity](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions/28727/files) | Bias and annual-cycle plots against WOA2023 for a `historical` run. |
| **Sea ice** | [Arctic and Antarctic sea ice area](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions/27489/files) | Seasonal cycles and time series compared with an observational reference for a `historical` run. |

These are examples, not a complete inventory. Each linked execution has a **Files** tab with figures and downloadable outputs; the other tabs show the input datasets, execution details, numerical values where available, and logs. The examples also use different experiments and ensemble members, so they should be read in their own context.

> **If a result looks odd:** Check the same diagnostic for other models, using comparable experiments and reference data. An unusual plot could come from a bug in the diagnostic or its processing; it does not, on its own, establish a problem with the ACCESS data. Please include the execution link when raising a possible issue.

## Find more ACCESS-ESM1.6 results

1. Open [Executions](https://dashboard.climate-ref.org/executions?mip_era=CMIP7) and select **CMIP7** if the page opens on CMIP6.
2. Look for **`ACCESS-ESM1-6`** in the **Selectors** column. The provider and diagnostic filters can help narrow the list.
3. Open an execution to check its status, experiment and ensemble member, then select **Files** to view the plots.

**More is coming.** As the Consortium publishes more ACCESS-ESM1.6 CMIP7 datasets to ESGF and REF processes them, further evaluations and outputs will appear on the dashboard. The dashboard is a live view, so its contents will change as publication and processing continue. You can also follow [CMIP7 data availability](https://www.climate-resource.com/tools/esm-model/cmip7-availability).

REF results are a useful first look at the published data and available diagnostics. Please check the reference dataset, experiment, member and diagnostic method before drawing scientific conclusions from an individual plot.
