## Call for proposals now open (closes on June 15th) 🐍

[PyCon Australia](https://2025.pycon.org.au/about/), which is the national conference for the Python community, will be held in Melbourne this year. This overlaps with the ACCESS-NRI Community Workshop which runs from 8 to 12 September and is also held in Melbourne. One of the specialist tracks this year is _Scientific Python_ which is for anyone using Python for scientific computing - be it anything from data analysis, engineering, academic research, statistics, modelling systems, or just generally hacking together new tools to extract insight.

If you are interested in being a speaker in the Scientific Python specialist track (or the main conference track), you can submit your proposal here:

Don’t worry if you aren’t an expert speaker, as PyCon welcomes those who haven’t spoken at a conference before!

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with either @CharlesTurner or @jo-basevi as we are both helping organise the Scientific Python specialist track this year.

Hey Everyone!

The submission deadline for PyConAU 2025 is this Friday!

We’ve still not had as many submissions for the scientific track as we’d like, so if you’re thinking about submitting a talk, please do! **Speaker tickets for PyCon are free** , so if you’re in town for the ACCESS-NRI community workshop already, it’s a great opportunity to meet a different side of the community.

Submit a talk [here](https://2025.pycon.org.au/program/)
