# Track how recently files were accessed via cookbook

At yesterday’s COSIMA meeting we lamented how it’s impossible to know whether output is still actively used, which makes it hard to know what can be archived to tape. It would be helpful to have file usage tracked via the cookbook, as suggested [here](https://github.com/COSIMA/cosima-cookbook/issues/231). Is that something ACCESS-NRI could help with?
