Ben Schroeter: ACCESS-AM3 Development: Status and Outlook
ACCESS-AM3 represents the next generation of the ACCESS atmosphere-land model and marks significant upgrades to the underlying model infrastructure including moving to GAL9 and UM 13.8. The planned beta release of the model will include low (N96) and high (N512) resolution configurations, with time-varying and climatological aerosols, respectively. With the transition to a Spack-based release workflow, user training will cover new ways to contribute to model development, as well as transitioning to Cylc8 for model execution. Future plans for ACCESS-AM3 include biogeochemistry and coupling to ACCESS-CM3, and community feedback is welcome in shaping the full model release following the beta.
