Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that abstract submissions are now open for the Convection-Permitting Modelling Workshop 2027, to be held at UNSW Sydney, Australia, from 1-4 February 2027, with additional side events on 5 February 2027.
The theme of CPM2027 is “Convection-permitting climate modelling across scales: from global to regional to local.” The workshop will bring together scientists working at the forefront of high-resolution climate modelling, including global, regional and local kilometre-scale modelling communities.
We welcome oral and poster abstract submissions across the full range of convection-permitting and kilometre-scale modelling, including:
- Model development and computational challenges;
- Scale interactions and coupling processes;
- AI and data-driven modelling, including data assimilation;
- Convection, clouds, precipitation and extreme events;
- Land-atmosphere interactions and urban climate;
- Model evaluation and observations;
- Extratropical weather and tropical-extratropical interactions.
The workshop will explore advances in model development, computational methods, artificial intelligence, observations, model evaluation, extreme events and climate impacts. By connecting communities working across scales, CPM2027 aims to advance understanding of high-impact weather and climate processes and support the development of more reliable climate information for research, planning and decision-making.
Abstract submissions close on 15 October 2026.
Further information, including the abstract submission link, is available on the workshop website:
Registration will open soon, and early-bird registration will close on 15 December 2026.
We encourage you to submit an abstract and to share this announcement with colleagues and networks who may be interested in attending.
Kind regards,
Yi Huang on behalf of the CPM 2027 organising committee
