Hi,
friver
includes the river runoff from land, ficeberg
the freshwater flux from icebergs. The accumulated snow on land (Antarctica, Greenland) is discharged as iceberg calving. The details on how this is done are described in Bi et al. 2020.
Does this help? What exactly do you mean when you write “iceshelf model”? There are no ice shelves in the model…
Cheers,
Wilma
Hi Wilma,
thanks so much for your reply. I thought the access-cm had an iceshelf because you can select the domain landice in the CMIP6 repository. Did I misunderstand? If that is the case, the freshwater budget should only include friver, pme, fsitherm and the freshwater transport in the ocean, should not it?
Best regards,
Estanislao
Hi,
There is neither an ice sheet model nor an ice shelf model in CM2. The only ice component that is directly modelled is the sea ice. You might want to include the iceberg discharge in your calculation as it takes precipitation (snow) from Antarctica/Greenland into account.
Cheers,
Wilma
