Is it possible to have meson installed in conda/analysis3?

Description of request: f2py seems to have stopped working since Python 3.12 because the Meson build system is now required. Is it possible to have meson installed in a future conda/analysis3 environment?

EDIT: Environment solves via pixi, just rebuilding the conda environment now. Assuming no weird gremlins it should be live within the hour.

Thanks for the following up. Unfortunately, I still got the same error. However, I believe that at least part of the problem is that in /g/data/xp65/public/apps/med_conda/envs/, there are a whole lot of broken symbolic links.

Yeah, something is currently up with the analysis3 build process and we’re in the process of debugging it. Meson should now be in the latest environment, but for whatever reason things are playing up… badly.

When we’ve worked out the source of the issue and fixed it properly I’ll update you.

Hi @hye

The symlinks resolve when you run the container. They do appear broken when you browse the content of the folders from a login node. It is expected.

Heya Harvey,

Sorry, this slipped off my todo list - I successfully added meson to the analysis3 environment that day.

Are you still having issues with it or is everything working smoothly now?

Since this has nothing to do with conda or Python and it’s important for reporting if we can show our solved support requests, I am going to move the ieee_arithmetic question to its own topic: “How to use ieee_arithmetic module in Fortran?”]

@hye has reported the meson install worked for him. I’ll mark this as solved and close this topic.
