Title
How sea ice affects the Southern Ocean water masses: An ACCESS case study
About
The Southern Ocean absorbs 75% of anthropogenic heat and 43% of anthropogenic carbon emissions, due to the circumpolar deep water (CDW) which keeps bringing up the seawater for ventilation. The sea ice plays an important role in transforming the CDW into different water masses. Here we present the sea ice performance in water mass transformation under ACCESS-CM2 and ACCESS-ESM1-5.
