Getting back to your original question, rather than regridding the JRA55 Antarctic runoff yourself, why not just use the runoff diagnostic output from the model, and zero out everything non-Antarctic? Restricting to Antarctic would make it time-independent so you only need one snapshot.
Yeah this sounds a great idea! In that case, I would just need the “river” (runoff+calving) south of 60S (from the original control run) and merge with just the calving north of 60S. Will give this a try!
This also made me think about the calving flux coming from the file “ocean_month_output_GPC010_calving_365_final.nc” we discussed in yesterday’s meeting. I think Pedro simply diagnosed the runoff and calving components of an ACCESS-OM2-RYF run and made the file from this calving flux. In that case it would be equivalent to the solid runoff I guess? I calculated its circumpolar integral and it’s equal to 0.041 Sv (roughly half of the total JRA55do runoff ~0.087 Sv).
I don’t think so - basal and calving are always combined in the model.
