Scaling data for ACCESS-CM2

Hi,

Is there scaling data for ACCESS-CM2 available somewhere?

Also, is there a standard practice for running the model to test scaling - I am interested in doing this for a N48 version of the model to see how it compares.

Thanks,
Fraser

Hi @Fraser,

The software transformation team here at ACCESS-NRI is planning on doing scaling tests for all the officially supported models. Unfortunately I can’t give you an exact timeline for this. In any case, @Aidan mentioned that @Scott might have such data for CM2, so might be worth getting in touch with him about it.

Cheers,
Micael

It’s been years since I looked at CM2, there are some basic notes on the old CLEX wiki at ACCESS-CM 2.0 - climate-cms wikis.unsw.edu.au and ACCESS-CM 2 N48 - climate-cms wikis.unsw.edu.au. There’s a linked PDF on the first page with some scaling info.

Luckily it doesn’t change very much!

When I was at NCI, I began writing an ACCESS-CM2 Performance Report. Unfortunately I never finished the report, but the data that it does contain may be useful to you. I also produced a presentation that contains some more data on ACCESS-CM2 performance. I also reported on coupling and MPI in ACCESS-CM2.
