GenAI breakout session (Day 1 16:15-17:00 & Day 2 16:15-17:00)
Facilitated by: Yue Sun, Micael Oliveira, Edward Yang, Taimoor Sohail & Sanaa Hobeichi
This interactive two-day community discussion (45 minutes each day) will explore the role of generative AI in Earth science, with a particular focus on its opportunities, challenges, and responsible adoption in scientific research.
Through an introductory presentation, invited demonstrations, community discussions, and collaborative prioritisation, participants will explore practical applications of generative AI, including literature and dataset curation, coding assistants, reasoning agents, and scientific workflow automation. The workshop aims to identify best practices, shared concerns, and community priorities, culminating in a set of actionable recommendations to help ensure that generative AI enhances scientific understanding, reproducibility, and research quality, not merely research throughput.
