Update on AM3 development and how to evaluate it: Martin Dix (10+2mins)
Martin will give a brief update on ACCESS-AM3 development and progress towards a release. A community CM3 evaluation and development process has recently started under the ESM working group. Within this access-cm3-paper-1 repo are useful scripts, e.g., SAM_jet_metrics script to investigate winds for
higher res simulations, including location and intensity of max U850.
Would this framework be useful for AM3 evaluation? -
Call for AM3 alpha testers: Lachlan Whyborn (2mins)
How to get involved with the alpha testing of the AM3 configuration. -
AM3 aerosols and the Southern Ocean: Matt Woodhouse and Sonya Fiddes (5mins)
Matt and Sonya will be applying learning from AM2 aerosol experiments to AM3
-
-
ESA CCI SST and sea-ice dataset Heidi Nettelbeck (5mins)
Global SST-forced experiments with ACCESS-AM3 (N512), W21C would need to follow the HighResMIP2 conventions and use the ESA CCI SST & sea-ice dataset. This dataset is the same resolution as the OSTIA one at 0.05 degrees, but provides a consistent stable record over the satellite era. -
Compute/storage resources: Heidi Nettelbeck (5mins)
Any experiment proposals for Q4/2025 (875 kSU allocation)?
→ See here for how to apply for Atmosphere WG Resources. -
