This week weâve got a special session. Anton Steketee (@anton ) is running an interactive tutorial on using the ACCESS-NRI intake catalogue:
It will be delivered in a hybrid in-person/online format. There will be in-person support at IMAS.225, the Hales Room in Jaegar 7 at ANU, and online.
Please bring your laptop, we will be using the ARE. Make sure you are a member of xp65, hh5, ik11, cj50 projects at a minimum. The catalog also contains data from oi10, ol01, fs38 and p73 projects, so itâs useful to join those.
Our next meeting is on tomorrow (Thursday 26 September) at 1130

A little background on todayâs presentation in case people donât know:
ACCESS-OM2 (and OM3) currently have sea ice that levitates on top of the oceanâs surface. This is done to avoid some problematic instabilities arising from the sea ice - ocean coupling. This levitation is somewhat problematic for sea ice, but is going to be really problematic if we want to have icebergs calving off ice sheets in future model configs and have to levitate 300m thick icebergs! Theresa will give an update on how they are currently working on solving this problem at GFDL.

In the Ocean Team at ACCESS-NRI, weâre in the process of thinking about our priorities and would like to know where our resources best enable the community. With this in mind, weâve created a user survey. Please complete the survey if you would like to give input.
Please complete by 8th November. Note that all questions are optional and you can be anonymous if you wish. We particularly encourage responses from ECRs and people from less represented communities/demographics. This survey is open to anyone with an interest in ACCESS-NRI ocean modelling configurations â feel free to share it.
