Thanks to everyone who came to the OM3 science evaluation meeting on Thursday! We had a huge number of plots to review, so I’m sorry we didn’t have time to discuss everyone’s contributions.

Here are two requests (and opportunities to contribute!) ahead of our next meeting:
Request 1: Take on a new analysis task:
We have identified 10 new analysis tasks that it would be great to have completed before next meeting. This is a good opportunity for students and ECRs to get involved!
Please assign yourself to a task, or reach out to one of Chris, Hannah, Anton, Andrew or myself if you would like help getting started.
Request 2: Suggestions to improve major biases:
Please add suggestions to the linked issues for further investigation or sensitivity tests that might help us understand and reduce the four largest biases discussed at the meeting:
- Thermocline is too deep, looks like too much mixing/warming at subsurface down to ~1000m. Github issue.
- Southern Hemisphere meridional heat transport is too weak. Github issue.
- Sea surface salinity is too fresh. Github issue.
- AMOC is trending down rapidly - related to too shallow mixed layers in North Atlantic and too fresh surface. Github issue.
The next meeting will be 4pm on Thursday 3rd September, one week delayed from usual due to the Australian Antarctic Research Conference.
