Last Interglacial subsurface warming on the Antarctic shelf triggered by reduced deep- ocean convection


  • Enhanced meridional ocean heattransport and higher austral spring insolation let to reduced SO sea-ice cover.
  • Fresher and warmer conditions meant higher stratification and weaker AABW formation and thus subsurface warming around Antarctica.
