Output control for ACCESS-AM2

Hi all,

I’m doing a 9 year model run with ACCESS-AM2, and I want to limit outputs to monthly only.

I found that I am getting 3 hourly outputs for meteorological variables (boundary layer depth, net down SW flux, 10m wind u-component, etc.) and in:
um/namelist/Model Input and Output/STASH Requests and Profiles/STASH Requests
these outputted variables are turned on (all variables are within a Met3hr package). I’m doing a nudged simulation to ERA5 horizontal winds and temperature, so I just wanted to make sure that turning these variables off won’t mess with the nudging..just the outputs.

I read this post Controlling outputs in ACCESS-CM2 and saw some fields (like UPUKCA in ACCESS-CM2) are used internally so shouldn’t be turned off (obviously these don’t apply for the ACCESS-AM2 run), but I just wanted to check if anyone knows about this before I go switching them off.

Thanks,

Alanah

Hi @alanah.chapman, I’ll tag this help request as outofscope as ACCESS-NRI isn’t currently providing support for AM2 and nudging capabilities. However, I’d definitely encourage any community members with knowledge about nudging in AM2 to reply with any further information!

@Matt_Woodhouse, I noticed that you have a guide on nudging here, and so was wondering if you would have any information on this topic?

Thanks,
Spencer
