Problem with Git tutorial

I am following the Git vs GitHub article online, but I am having trouble with the following steps:

“To create a new Git repository, run the following command in a terminal:”

git init

When I run this command, I get the following error:

'git' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I have tried installing Git, but I am still getting this error. I am using Windows 10.

Can someone please help me understand why I am getting this error and how to fix it?
