Proposed changes to variable names in UM netCDF conversion

At the moment the netCDF conversion used by ESM1.5/6 creates variable names based on the stash code, e.g. fld_s00i024 for surface temperature rather than ts. Many of the variables saved do not have a matching CMIP variable name, so we originally thought this was less confusing than having a mixture of meaningful and default style names.

However some people have expressed a preference for using meaningful variable names where they’re available. This would be more useful if the set of names was more complete, so here we’re requesting suggestions to fill the gaps.

We’d also like opinions on whether to switch to the meaningful variable names so please vote in the poll. This needs to be settled before the ESM1.6 CMIP7 piControl starts so please vote before Friday 20th June.
