The CMIP Panel has approved the creation of a Rapid Evaluation Framework (REF), with potential involvement from the ESMValTool. More information and coding opportunities will follow. The REF aims to enhance climate model evaluation using systematic tools, innovative diagnostics, and machine learning. It addresses challenges posed by high-resolution and complex models. This initiative aligns with the ACCESS Model Evaluation and Diagnostics roadmap for CMIP7. We are developing workflows for evaluating Australia’s CMIP7 submission and are actively engaging with the ESMValTool community to establish a reliable framework for evaluating ACCESS models.
