Supporting Data Assimilation at ACCESS-NRI

Currently data assimilation research is not specifically supported under the ACCESS-NRI.

However, many of the research projects using ACCESS have DA components, especially in the Forecasting and Prediction areas.

I’d like to get a better idea of how you think ACCESS-NRI could support DA research

I’ll kick us off below

  • ACCESS-NRI could support an Observation System Simulation Experiment (OSSE)
    suite using supported ACCESS model configurations
  • Install/support DART at ACCESS-NRI?
  • Install and support JEDI framework from JCSDA for NWP DA research and bridge to operational systems
  • Help attract researchers to the field of DA, e.g. students through internships
