I’m planning to organise a follow-up to the “Advanced Git & GitHub best practices for software developers” tutorial that was held during the ACCESS Training Day 2024. At the end of the tutorial there was still a lot of material to explore and participants seemed keen to learn more.
This follow-up will be held at ACCESS-NRI, with the option for remote participation. This is mainly intended for the participants who attended the tutorial, as it builds upon the topics covered during the training day.
If you would like to attend, please indicate your preferred day:
Tuesday 24 September, 1:30pm-4:00pm
Friday 27 September, 9:30am-12:00pm
Friday 27 September, 1:30pm-4:00pm
Thursday 3 October, 9:30am-12:00pm
Friday 4 October, 9:30am-12:00pm
Friday 4 October, 1:30pm-4:00pm

NOTE: the follow-up will take place on Friday 4 October 9:30am-12:00pm.
Just double checking, I know you said that this tutorial is mainly directed at participants from a previous tutorial, but would I be able to join anyway if I didn’t attend the previous tutorial? I will be attending online because I am based in Hobart
I can definitely recommend the git repository/exercises here GitHub - ACCESS-NRI/training-day-2024-advanced_git, and found them both enjoyable and effective at highlighting what I didn’t know — if you can get through them then I’d guess you’re good to join the follow-up (@micael correct me if I’m wrong)
Yes, I think if you can get through the exercises you should be able to join the follow-up. I’ve listed bellow the topics covered during the training day and what I’m planning to talk about in the follow-up. That should help people who are considering joining to decide if this tutorial is for them.
The topics covered during the training day where:
Git as a tool to manipulate graphs (the Git DAG, what a commit is)
