COSIMA Cookbook and payu unavailable on June 1

What is happening?

From NCI:

NCI is decommissioning the /g/data3 filesystem, with all existing data being migrated to the newly commissioned /g/data6 filesystem. You are receiving this advisory because you are a user of at least one project with a /g/data3 allocation.

The /g/data3 filesystem will be offline during the migration process. Projects hosted on other NCI filesystems will not be affected. Following the migration, all data will be available from /g/data/ as before.

Migration/Outage details:

Date: Thursday, 1 June 2023
Time: 8am to 3pm

Who will it affect?

Anyone with a project on that filesystem, which includes hh5. All the CLEX CMS conda modules are under /g/data3/hh5, so conda/analysis3 etc will be unavailable. This means COSIMA Cookbook and the version of payu that most people use.

This includes gadi, ARE and OOD.

Note that any PBS job that specifies /g/data3 as a required mount point with the -l storage may be held by the PBS queuing system if it will still be running at the time of the outage, so it may affect jobs for a short time before the outage period.

(I have posted this in the COSIMA category, as this community is particularly affected, but this advice applies to anyone using the CLEX CMS conda modules)

What should I do?

Be patient and do something else on June 1 that doesn’t require access to /g/data/hh5.

Update any links to /g/data3/hh5 to point to /g/data/hh5 (which is how they should have been anyway).

It’s worth adding that these ACCESS/COSIMA/CLEX-related projects on /g/data3 will also be inaccessible on 1st June. This will also stop access-om2 from running.
