Install COSIMA cookbook in xp65 conda

We have been told to start using the xp65 conda environment and that hh5 won’t work after the end of May. However many of our COSIMA recipes still have not been updated to use Intake. We hope to finish this process at the hackathon in September. However, until then we will need the COSIMA cookbook installed on the xp65 conda environment.

very supportive of the request above; could we install the cosima_cookbook on that environment?

Does it worth making a new (last?) release before doing so? Or better install what we’ve been using since the past release?

Hi @adele-morrison, @navidcy,

I understand that the conversion of the COSIMA recipes to intake is still in progress. @CharlesTurner and @marc.white have been assisting with this work, and we’re aiming to complete the transition as soon as possible.

We don’t plan to include cosima_cookbook in the new analysis3 environments on xp65, as it is deprecated and no longer actively maintained. That said, it remains available in conda/analysis3-24.07, which mirrors the environment from hh5. This should be sufficient to run any recipes that haven’t yet been converted.

Hope this helps!

Thanks @rbeucher!

But we will lose access to hh5 in 40 days, right? Does this mean that we better convert everything to using intake by then, right?

The conda/analysis3-24.07 module in xp65 should be the same as the version in hh5 and contain the cosima_cookbook

There won’t be anyone from ACCESS-NRI involved in maintaining hh5 from an NCI point of view. I don’t think there is a decommissioning plan yet, but we can’t guarantee anything after the end of May.

thanks :+1:
