We’ve had some people getting the following error:
New registrations are not allowed from your IP address (maximum limit reached). Contact a staff member
There is some background in this issue, but basically this is a security setting to prevent bot sign-ups from the same IP address:
max new accounts per registration ip:
If there are already (n) trust level 0 accounts from this IP (and none is a staff member or at TL2 or higher), stop accepting new signups from that IP. Set to 0 to disable the limit.
I guess UTas people look like they come from the same IP address in some cases?
Anyway, I have disabled the limit so that issue should have gone away, but I made this topic in case it starts happening again, if the setting gets reset.
