Experiment proposal: ACCESS-ESM1.5 TIPMIP-Ocean 8.2 ka run

ACCESS-ESM1.5 TIPMIP-Ocean for the 8.2 ka run

We will follow the TIPMIP-OCEAN experimental protocol phase 1: Tipping dynamics of the AMOC for the 8.2 ka experiment. The experiment will start from the PI simulation in the ACCESS-ESM1.5 model, ramp up linearly the freshwater forcing from 0 Sv to 0.3 Sv in 50 years and ramp down linearly to 0 Sv in another 50 years, followed by another 100 years with 0 Sv freshwater flux. This allows us to test the sensitivity of the AMOC to the freshwater forcing of a magnitude similar to the 8.2 ka event under pre-industrial conditions. The outputs will be submitted to the TIPMIP-Ocean project as one of the ACCESS-ESM1.5 model’s contributions to the project. Since the submission deadline is getting close, we expect to complete the simulation soon and clear out the usage within a couple of months.

Thanks @YanxuanD for submitting this experiment proposal. I’ve checked with the ESM WG co-chairs and they are happy for you to run these experiments using lg87 resources.
