Kieran Ricardo: ACCESS-CM3 Update

  1. Introduction and scientific context: ACCESS-CM3 represents the latest generation of the Australian climate community’s global coupled model. It incorporates major updates to its component systems, including the MOM6 ocean model, CICE sea-ice model, UM atmospheric model, and CABLE land surface model, all integrated through the NUOPC coupling framework.

  2. Methodology/project summary: This presentation will provide an overview of recent developments in ACCESS-CM3, including improvements to frozen runoff distribution and enhancements to wind-stress remapping.

  3. Results: We will present results from a 0.25° ocean configuration, including outputs from the collaborative ACCESS-CM3 evaluation project: GitHub - ACCESS-Community-Hub/access-cm3-paper-1: Plotting notebooks and discussion for ACCESS-CM3 model evaluation and description paper · GitHub. Development and evaluation of the model are ongoing, and we welcome feedback and contributions from the community.
