This is a post to brainstorm discussion points and summarise discussion for the Observation - modelling nexus breakout at the 2023 COSIMA workshop.

Here are some initial discussion points, please add more below.

  • What observations would most improve model inputs / evaluation / initialisation?

  • What do observationalists need from modellers? What are the priorities for ACCESS-OM3 development / simulations / diagnostics that would bring the most benefit to the observational community?

  • How can we expand / enhance model - observation collaborations? What are some examples of recent science projects that successfully combined observations and models?
