Hi all,
There were some questions today about training resources for the ACCESS-NRI Intake catalog. We’ll try to include some training in an upcoming COSIMA meeting, but in the meantime I’m sharing some resources that might be helpful:

There will also be training on intake at the 2024 ACCESS Workshop Training Day in September.

This week we’ve got a special session. Anton Steketee (@anton ) is running an interactive tutorial on using the ACCESS-NRI intake catalogue:
It will be delivered in a hybrid in-person/online format. There will be in-person support at IMAS.225, the Hales Room in Jaegar 7 at ANU, and online.
Please bring your laptop, we will be using the ARE. Make sure you are a member of xp65, hh5, ik11, cj50 projects at a minimum. The catalog also contains data from oi10, ol01, fs38 and p73 projects, so it’s useful to join those.
If you are not familiar with ARE and want to participate, please set-up an ARE session before the meeting (follow the get started instructions at https://github.com/COSIMA/cosima-recipes/blob/main/README.md).

A little background on today’s presentation in case people don’t know:
ACCESS-OM2 (and OM3) currently have sea ice that levitates on top of the ocean’s surface. This is done to avoid some problematic instabilities arising from the sea ice - ocean coupling. This levitation is somewhat problematic for sea ice, but is going to be really problematic if we want to have icebergs calving off ice sheets in future model configs and have to levitate 300m thick icebergs! Theresa will give an update on how they are currently working on solving this problem at GFDL.
