Experiment Proposal: AUS2200 sea surface temperature sensitivity simulations of June 2016 east coast heavy rain event

Experiment name: ECL-2016_smallshift

Experiment title: AUS2200 sea surface temperature sensitivity simulations of June 2016 east coast heavy rain event.

Summary:

We would like to propose two AUS2200 experiments to investigate sea surface temperature effects on the East Coast Low complex event of early June 2016. We have already completed a simulation with a domain shifted eastward to cover more of the Coral and Tasman Seas and with constant initial-time ERA5 skin temperatures over water. We now propose two additional simulations, 1) With 1980 to 2019 climatological average 3 June ERA5 skin temperatures over water and 2) with time-evolving ERA5 skin temperatures over water. We intend to use the results to investigate what impact the SST distribution and evolution has on the rainfall distribution and related processes.

People: Chris Chambers, Dale Roberts, Yi Huang
Model: AUS2200
Period of simulations: 0000 UTC 3 June to 0000 UTC 8 June 2016.
Total KSUs required: 10 days * 16 kSU/day = 160kSU
Total storage required: 4 TB as part of projects v45 and gx60

@cchambers thanks for your experiment proposal. Could you please edit your post to include an Experiment Name (i.e., short experiment name, often used to name the experiment directory). This is a required field and was provided in the Experiment template.
Please note: Regarding the Experiment template, it is a good idea to leave fields blank rather than delete them so that they can be edited later if needed. Thanks.
