Title

Enhancing ACCESS-OM3 with Integrated Wave-Ice Interactions

About

The integration of wave-ice interactions into climate models is crucial for understanding the intricate interplay between ocean waves and sea ice, especially in polar regions where these interactions significantly influence ocean mixing, sea-ice fracturing, and changes in ocean dynamics. This work focuses on enhancing ACCEES-OM3’s capability to simulate the complex feedback mechanisms between ocean waves and sea ice by coupling the ocean (MOM6) and sea-ice (CICE6) models with the wave model (WW3) and considering wave-induced processes such as ice breakup, changes in floe size distribution, and ice deformation.
