It would be worthwhile to save the fields required for a DOCN data ocean to drive CICE6-WW3 configurations. From @ezhilsabareesh8’s poster the required fields are
- SST
- SSS
- surface velocity
- melt and freeze potential
- mixed layer depth
@lgbennetts, @NoahDay please chime in with the duration of the 0.25° WW3-CICE6 runs you’re planning and the data frequency you think will be needed (e.g. will daily data for a few years be sufficient? As these are 2d fields we could probably go to higher frequency if the duration is not too long.)
Yes, to drive CICE6-WW3 we will need SST, SSS, surface velocity, and freeze/melt potential. While mixed layer depth might be useful for calibrating the constant mixed layer depth in CICE6, it is by no means essential (monthly data would give a good sense). Even for our short simulations, daily data should be fine.
