:teacher: Description: The ACCESS-NRI Intake Catalog is the preferred python framework now for sharing experiment results and providing a standardised way to load model data across experiments. At this talk we will cover how to create Intake-ESM datastores for individual experiments that are in progress, and how datastores can be used in Jupyter notebooks to load data.

:open_book: Training Materials: 21st Feb 2025 - Building and Using Intake Datastores

:yellow_heart: Who should come : Anyone that wants to analyse output from their own or other’s model simulations!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Help please :person_raising_hand:!

The program will be all the richer with community input, and maybe a starting point for new collaborations… Perhaps some of you have an interest in demonstrating or showing off one of your favorite tools, models or analysis?

Examples might include: WW3, panantarctic configs, MOM6 idealised modelling, Oceananigans, regional modelling, evaluation to observations, novel OM2 diagnostics, running isomip+ mom6 etc…

The only criteria is that you think it’s of value to the community. Please get in touch with jasmeen.kaur@anu.edu.au and Chris.Bull@anu.edu.au, or post on the forum.

Hi everyone!

To gather suggestions and ideas for potential training topics for the 2025 ACCESS-NRI Community Workshop (in Melbourne from 8-12 Sept.), the ACCESS-NRI training team has created a poll :triangular_flag_on_post: on the ACCESS-Hive Forum.

:woman_raising_hand: We would love to hear feedback from all community members about the training sessions they’d like to see this year!

There are 3 main ways to add or vote on the suggestions (similar to StackOverflow):
1. :check_box_with_check: Choose up to 10 options from the existing options on the poll.
2. :writing_hand: Add a new suggestion by hitting the Screenshot 2025-03-05 at 10.37.58 button.
3. ↑ You can also upvote any suggestion found in the replies.

We are looking forward to meeting you at the working group meetings as well :waving_hand: .

Please note that the poll will close on 2025-03-30T13:00:00Z.

Thanks heaps!
Jasmeen Kaur

:alarm_clock: When: 11am, 2 May 2025 (Friday)
:house: Where: Zoom

:teacher: Description: Xarray and Dask are increasingly becoming key tools for ocean modellers. However, both vectorisation with xarray and lazy computing with dask remain an enigma to many. This session will explain what happens under the hood of these libraries and provide tips to optimize your code performance. We’ll also walk through the logical steps to transform complicated analyses from for-loops into efficient vectorised functions, using real-world oceanographic examples.

:laptop: Prerequisites

  1. Basic familiarity with Python, Xarray, Dask and how to load large datasets.

Note: A brief presentation deck will also be shared shortly before the event.
