New co-chair for the Land Working Group confirmed: Mat Lipson.
Pre-processor for the met. forcings for CABLE: presentation by Abhaas Goyal (ACCESS-NRI).
Collect ideas for the workshop from the working group to fill a Survey from ACCESS-NRI. Do not send individual replies please. We will send one reply for the working group.
Collate feedback to UKMO (John Edwards) on “requirements for land ancillaries in land and Earth system models” for contribution to the ECMWF 50th Anniversary workshop https://events.ecmwf.int/event/422/
Proposal to move the WG meetings to 2-3pm. Would that work with people’s calendars?
WG experiments: does anyone have plans to run new experiments under rp23? ESM WG is looking for some extra SUs this quarter. Rp23 is used for some ESM1.6 and AM3 developments, at our current usage rate, we would only use about half the resources. Unless we forecast an increase in usage, we could give about 25% of our resources at this stage.
To gather suggestions and ideas for potential training topics for the 2025 ACCESS-NRI Community Workshop (in Melbourne from 8-12 Sept.), the ACCESS-NRI training team has created a poll on the ACCESS-Hive Forum.
We would love to hear feedback from all community members about the training sessions they’d like to see this year!
There are 3 main ways to add or vote on the suggestions (similar to StackOverflow):
1. Choose up to 10 options from the existing options on the poll.
2. Add a new suggestion by hitting the button.
3. ↑ You can also upvote any suggestion found in the replies.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the working group meetings as well .
Please note that the poll will close on 2025-03-30T13:00:00Z.
Thanks heaps!

Hi,
This is to inform you that we have decided to replace the existing CABLE mailing list with a mailing list based on the ACCESS-Hive forum.
The ACCESS-Hive forum is already used regularly by the community to share information, making it an appropriate tool to use for the mailing list. Moving to a mailing list within the ACCESS-Hive forum allows users to receive information via email while making the information public. Newcomers to the CABLE community will be able to access existing information more easily. It also solves issues where some users did not receive the mailing list emails because of their spam filters.
For a swift transition, please follow the instructions below to join the new mailing list within the next 2 weeks. Joining is very straightforward and will ensure the new mailing list meets the purpose of reaching the CABLE community promptly.
Below, we explain how to join the new mailing list and how to use it. We also give some information on how the mailing list works and some restrictions and limitations in its use.
Other members of the CABLE user group will receive an email about the topic.
Adding the tag cable-watch to an existing topic will send an email to the CABLE group as well.
What to expect
Anyone with an account on the forum can join the CABLE user group. We vet any new sign-in to the forum from non-Australian institution emails, thus reducing the risk of spam and phishing emails.
All members of the CABLE user group will receive an email for the first post only of every topic created with the cable-watch tag.
A reply to an email received via the CABLE user group will not be sent to the whole CABLE user group. Only previous participants in the discussion will be notified (plus any forum user you may mention in your reply).
To be notified of all replies to a topic received from the mailing list, you need to watch the topic.
Only members of the CABLE user group can use the cable-watch tag. If someone wants to send information to the group, they will need to join the group or ask someone from the group to write the topic. The group’s members list is public.
You cannot @mention the CABLE user group or send private messages to the group. The only way to send information to the group is via the cable-watch tag, as explained above.
There is no moderation on the content shared via this mailing list. The current mailing list did not have moderation on content shared by the users either. As such, it is not expected to create large volumes of unwanted emails, but please let me know of any issues with the emails received from the group.

Hi all,
With Ian and myself travelling and on leave last week, the announcement for the land working group meeting hasn’t been posted.
We have a meeting scheduled for this afternoon at 2pm, please use this Zoom link to connect.
Considering the previously shared calendar invite has gone awry with some calendars, please remove the events from your calendars and replace with these new events (which hopefully will fix any problem): EDIT: removed attachment since the files were incorrect. See next post for the corrected files.
There is no specific agenda for this afternoon and the meeting is open to any topic attendees want to discuss.

Sorry for the second email of the day, but I have finally found a way to create .ics files on my system that should follow daylight saving changes.

Each financial year, ACCESS-NRI puts together a work plan. We had a consultation period for community feedback on our priorities for 2025-26 while I was away, and so I fear it was missed by the land community.
Although it might be difficult to add major changes now, there is still a short open window when we can add some community feedback.
If you are interested in what ACCESS-NRI is planning and providing some feedback, you can find our draft work plan here. Consider sending any feedback to myself directly (a message through the forum or an email would work).
Our work plan is indicative of current priorities, but we will stay flexible and adapt to changing priorities along the year if required.

You can present your work in the main workshop (the “parallel sessions”), or in our seperate Land Working Group day(s) (or both). The main workshop has 10 minute and 1 minute lightning talks. Our Land only working group also has some seminar slots if you prefer to present there. So, do submit your latest and get involved in what should be a great week of workshops.
