Hello everyone,
If you like the COSIMA hackathon so much that want to do it all over again, check out OceanHackWeek (OHW). This hackathon brings ocean scientists from varies disciplines together to work on ocean based problems. In previous years, we have had participants who study marine soundscapes, physical oceanographers, modelers (physical and ecological), and geneticists. It is super fun and this is the third year it is running in-person in Australia.
The hackathon goes on for five days in August (August 23rd/24th-30th, 2024) and includes some interactive workshops about applying data science to oceanography and fisheries. This year it will be be happening at the Kioloa Campus in NSW. Best of all, accommodation, food (while on campus), and transportation from Sydney Airport are all covered. There are some limited funds available to cover flights to Sydney with preference given to students and ECRs.
If you want to apply, fill in this application form by July 8: OceanHackWeek 2024 | A Workshop to Explore Data Science in Oceanography (google.com).
For more details about the application, see the Information for Applicants and FAQ page.
