@holger wondered if there was some way to easily display affiliation to help with understanding who people are and their roles and interests.
Turns out discourse has an option to add a little icon to your avatar (image) and calls this “avatar flair”.
If we have groups for Organisations (as mentioned in https://forum.access-hive.org.au/t/using-discourse-groups-for-working-groups/192/1) then those organisations could have an icon. And we can make a setting that automatically adds the primary group’s icon as a “flair”
Unfortunately users can’t self-nominate for groups. We can make anyone a group admin, and they can invite users.

I’ve just tested this with a new ACCESS-NRI group, but only I’m a member at the moment
Groups are quite cool. You can set a default email domain and auto-subscribe people whose email matches.
